- Brand history: Zodiac was founded in Switzerland by Ariste Calame in 1882, starting with pocket watches before moving to wristwatches in 1908. The company became known for both its high-quality dress watches and its innovative sports and dive watches.
- Hermetic technology: The "Hermetic" line utilized the same water-resistant sealing technology found in their robust dive watches to create a more durable and protected dress watch. The name is a direct reference to this sealed, or "hermetically sealed," design.
- Market position: While Zodiac is arguably most famous for the Seawolf dive watch, it was also a major producer of dress watches. The Hermetic line was a part of this dress watch production, leveraging their technical expertise to make a high-performance dress timepiece
