Description
ONLY Known Surviving RED Rite Aid Electronic Security Tag from Closed Chain
This is the only known surviving Red Electronic Security Tag of this type, from the now closed nationalwide chain of Rite Aid Pharmacy Stores. When the stores closed, they were directed to destroy these, so there appear to be none left online. We came across totally by accident, when it was thrown into our bag by a clerk that was not paying attention. We realized this would be a valued collectible by Rite Aid Aficionados.
If you look carefully at this tag, you will in the 2nd photo that an attempt was made to cut this off. However the thief failed and the tag remained in the store. This is one TOUGH security tag. And the cut mark adds to its reputation of being tough.
The third photo shows how this was used on products, within Rite Aid. This Property of Rite Aid RFID Security Tag serves double duty. In case the RIFD aspects of this Security Tag fail, it still very clear states to any who find the merchandise that it is the property of Rite Aid. Though a tag concept I had not seen before, Rite Aid nevertheless made its ownership known and would know if others used. I can’t imagine any large number escaping the store and infiltrating another chain’s security system. But maybe they are branded to add a note of authority to the tag.
